4. Eligibility

All applicants must satisfy all of the following prerequisites:

  • 1. Age - 18 or above
  • 2. Financial requirement - He/she is capable of supporting and accommodating himself/herself and his/her dependants, if any, on his/her financial resources without relying on public assistance during his/her stay in Hong Kong
  • 3. Good character - No criminal record or adverse immigration record in Hong Kong or elsewhere
  • 4. Language proficiency - The applicant should be proficient in written and spoken English or Chinese (Putonghua or Cantonese)
  • 5. Basic educational qualification - Good educational background, normally a first degree from a recognized university or a tertiary educational institution.
  • 6. Points-Based Migration
  • In addition to meeting all the Pre-Requisites, applicants have to pass any one of the points-based tests: General Points Based Test. General Points Based Test is based on

  • Minimum pass mark : 80 points out of 195

5. External (Embassy) Process

This is a 3-stage process.
  • Step 1 : Qualification Assessment (through HKCAAVQ - Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualification), the applicant must apply for a qualification assessment to the approved body as suggested by HKSAR Immigration Authority. Also, parallel to the QA lodge your QMAS visa application. Applicant must courier the documents to HKSAR Immigration Authority In person.
  • Step 2 : Selection Exercise - HKCAAVQ will take 15 -30 days to courier the QA results directly to the Immigration Authority. Application once submitted will be assessed based on the selection exercise. A pool draw will be conducted every quarter and results will be published on the Immigration website.
  • Step 3 : Approval In Principal - Upon Selection applicant will receive an AIP letter from the Immigration dept. Upon receiving the same applicant must make a travel arrangement to visit Hong Kong personally and attend the Interview.
  • Step 4 : Upon Approval – The applicant will receive the Visa/Entry Permit letter and can remain in Hong Kong or make the necessary travel arrangements. The applicant needs to make his/her first entry within 3 – 6 months from the date of issuing the Entry Permit to make the visa valid.

6. VISA/Embassy & Other Fees

  • 1. Visa/Embassy Fee – 190 HKD (INR 1,600 approx.)
  • 2. Qualification Assessment with HKCAAVQ – 390 USD (INR 25,000 approx).
  • 3. Travel Cost To & Fro for Personal Interview – INR 35,000 – INR 40,000 approx.
  • 4. Landing Fees - 160 HKD ( INR 1,350 approx.)
  • 5. IELTS Exam Fee- 14000 INR

7. Process Time

  • Qualification Assessment (HKCAAVQ) – 15 to 30 days
  • Selection Exercise – 3 to 6 months
  • After receiving AIP - 1 to 3 months
